Gayle Peterson, RN-BC, is an Oncology Nurse working for decades at a large teaching hospital in Boston. She has cared for many patients with melanoma and realizes that if they had had sun protection education as a child, they may not have been her patient. She has served for several years on the American Nurses Association’s Board of Directors representing all bedside nurses. As the Vice Chair of ANA’s Political Action Committee and Leadership Society, she spent many hours with legislators helping them understand bills effecting nurses and patients. She brings this state and national advocacy experience to her role as Advisor. She is excited to have the opportunity to advocate and help eradicate melanoma. She firmly believes that children have the right to be protected from melanoma and the best way to do this is by educating them on how to be SunAWARE.
